This Week in Congress: House Dems’ $725B Defense Bill, Ending Per-Country Immigration Caps, and Judicial Nominations
How do you feel about this week's congressional agenda?
The Senate starts its week Monday with a procedural vote on the Nomination of Daniel Bress to be a judge on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, ahead of a possible confirmation vote on Tuesday. The rest of the week will feature debate and votes on the nominations of executive branch officials to the Education Dept., Labor Dept., and the EPA’s Office of Solid Waste.
The House convenes Tuesday for votes on seven bipartisan financial services bills under the fast-track suspension of the rules process. The rest of the week will feature additional suspension bills, including a bill to strike gendered references to the president and their spouse from the U.S. Code and a bill to eliminate per-country limits on immigration. Most of the week will be dominated by debate and amendment votes on House Democrats’ FY2020 defense authorization bill, which could receive a passage vote on Friday.
