Before bills and nominations are brought up for a passage vote in Congress, they typically have to be considered and approved by relevant committees ― which also conduct oversight of federal agencies. Here’s a look at what Congressional committees will be holding hearings on this week.

Tuesday
- The Senate Homeland Security Committee will hold a hearing titled “The Implications of the Reinterpretation of the Flores Settlement Agreement for Border Security and Illegal Immigration Incentives”. 10am
- The Senate Health Committee will hold a hearing titled “Reducing Health Care Costs: Examining How Transparency Can Lower Spending and Empower Patients”. 10am
- The Senate Banking Committee will hold a hearing titled “Fintech: Examining Digitization, Data, and Technology”. 10am
Thursday
- The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing to vote on the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, along with 8 district court judges and one circuit court judge, the DETER Act, and a bill to punish lynching. 9:30am
- The Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Oceans will hold a hearing titled “Fish Fights: An Examination of Conflicts Over Ocean Resources”. 10am
