This is for the person who asked. Why bother. 💕I understand and I ask myself the same. We bother not because it will change how our republican will vote but to show support for those we can change. To be the disruptive force that fuels the change needed. ⚔️We bother because deep down we know our voice may just save the life of a child, help a family, or be the buffer somehow needed. 🚥your words make people think 💭. Bother because should you stop, the voice to support POTUS will be what our friends, family, and children hear and believe. ⚔️⚔️⚔️Wisconsin must fight back, show the world they oppose Ryan and the hard right. Sensenbrenner and Ryan must be brought to justice. As do Gallger, Duffy, and Grothman. You fight because Wisconsin is more than the sum of these mens' corruption. 💰💰💰
Senator Todd Young doesn't listen either. In fact, he has his staff LIE to his constituents when you call his office! My state is a Medicaid expansion state, and it has helped thousands! I called his office the day health care voting started and was told "he doesn't support Medicaid cuts", but then he voted for Medicaid cuts just hours later! And when that amendment failed, he continued to vote for every amendment proposed that would cut Medicaid! Stupid me, I thought a Marine would have the guts to stand up to bullies like McConnell. Should have voted for a woman instead- the only senators who have any balls!
Today is the anniversary of the creation of Medicare and Medicaid. In today's political and social climate they would never pass. During the campaign the hot slogan was, "Make America Great Again." 52 years ago today, something really was done to make America Great. How can people think that erasing 52 years of sanity and compassion would "Make America Great Again?"
I can tell my reps how to vote, but with the exception of Tammy Baldwin, they NEVER vote the way I see things. So I am starting to wonder why bother? Everything is already set in stone in Wisconsin along party lines. If you are not a republican the you have no influence in the Senate vote. When Sensenbrenner responds to my messages it is in a way as if he "misunderstood" my vote and feels completely supported in his awful voting record.
Resistance is not futile. Silence is heard as approval. The Republicans are banking on citizen apathy. Voice (and vote) resistance to all tax proposals that help the wealthy, that grant more welfare to corporations, that treat corporations like people, that decrease help to the poor and disadvantaged, and that expand militarism in the world!!!
As to the "Why bother" comment: if your representatives aren't voting the way you want them to, you can't change that with this app. You change that by REMEMBERING this in November and VOTING for someone else. Even better, you can work for or donate to the campaign of someone who supports your values. The government won't represent us unless we make ourselves heard. This app, as fine as it is, can only be one step in that process.
Really? Does it even matter what I tell my Senators? It seems they've forgotten who their "employers" are! 4 times trying to shove a crappy healthcare bill down our throats and still at it! I'm sure they could care less what we think. But a couple months prior to their re-election campaigns they'll be hard at it.
