Report: Intel Intercepts Expose Connections Between Russia & Trump Campaign

by Countable | 7.21.17

Information intercepted by U.S. intelligence agencies suggests that a key Trump Campaign official had serious and substantive conversations with top Russian officials, according to a new report from The Washington Post.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions has disclosed several discussions he had with Russia’s U.S. Ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the 2016 presidential campaign. At that time Sessions was a senior Republican lawmaker from Alabama, and has repeatedly asserted that those conversations with the Russian official were tied to his position as a top Senator, not his work on the Trump Campaign.

But Kislyak’s reports to the Kremlin about his talks with Sessions contradict those accounts, the Post story says, citing unnamed U.S. Intelligence officials.

"A former U.S. official who read the Kislyak reports said that the Russian ambassador reported speaking with Sessions about issues that were central to the campaign, including Trump’s positions on key policy matters of significance to Moscow.”

Kislyak’s communications, the newspaper reports, also detail a previously-undisclosed conversation with Sessions at a posh Washington hotel where then-candidate Trump gave his first major foreign policy speech.

"Sessions has said he does not remember any encounter with Kislyak at that event. In his June testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee, Sessions said, "I do not recall any conversations with any Russian official at the Mayflower Hotel.”

Later in that hearing, Sessions said that "it’s conceivable that it occurred. I just don’t remember it."

The Post’s report is based on unnamed intelligence officials’ descriptions of intercepted communications from Kislyak to the Kremlin, and so, the story says, "...the Russian ambassador could have mischaracterized or exaggerated the nature of his interactions." But the report also says that, among American intelligence officials, Kislyak “has a reputation for accurately relaying details about his interactions with officials in Washington.”

Justice Department spokeswoman Sarah Isgur Flores told the Post,

"Obviously I cannot comment on the reliability of what anonymous sources describe in a wholly uncorroborated intelligence intercept that the Washington Post has not seen and that has not been provided to me.”

Any American not bothered by AG Jeff Sessions memory problems aka lies is not much of an American. The top legal authority in our country is a liar. What does that say about us as a country? Sessions is assisting Trump to destroy our democracy & I am not only stunned but frightened for all of us!

Dirtbags. I hope this serves a lesson for the morons who voted for this scum. All this crap about Hillary's emails and George Soros from the fake independents and new wave of extremist republicans seems so far away and ridiculous now, doesn't it!

I am deeply saddened that our country has come to this. Step back and take a look at what has been created. We have an unethical man in the White House who has made verifiable unsubstantiated claims on numerous occasions. He has put family members in high ranking offices while their truthfulness on security clearances is questionable. He has appointed people to positions of power with little to no knowledge of the titles they have been given. He has thumbed his nose at the world by pulling out of the Paris accord on climate change. He has given people previously employed in finite energy sources false hope that these jobs are coming back and all the while ignoring the multitude of opportunities presented to us by alternative energy sources. He would happily take away all health care for low income families if it meant doing away with an Obama policy. Oh, and let's not forget that he fired the FBI director and seems hell bent on doing the same with the special counsel. Meanwhile there is hard evidence of Russian interference in our democratic election process and we get nothing from our President. As our elected leaders, when will you stand up for America? When will you take a stand against the most corrupt administration this country has ever seen?

Jeff Sessions needs to be brought up on contempt of Congress! Do not let this slip through the cracks! It is time to start formal impeachment proceedings on Donald Trump as well!

People who voted for Trump need to realize it was a mistake. I personally have always seen Trump for what he is, a greedy opportunist only interested in advancing his own cause, even at the expense of others. To think that this corrupt and morally bankrupt crook is suddenly going to make himself the great public servant is insane! He is doing great harm to our country and the world. The sooner he is impeached the better.

If it walk like a duck, talks like a duck, looks like a duck, small like a duck, I do not think it is a horse! What do you think about Trump not knowing and being involved? It depends on which day he tweets.

So I see that senator Grassley has cancelled the public hearing with Maniifort and Donald jr. Are you kidding me? Corruption abounds in our own republican reps! These cover ups and distractions from the crookedness and money laundering of Trump and his family are not acceptable! Your basically saying that it's ok to cozy up to Russia, give them sensitive information, lighten the sanctions, and create our own autocratic leaders and oligarchs just like the mafia Russia! Your an embarrassment! He is already investigating if he can pardon himself. Sound like an innocent President to you?

If all of these Russian connections are true & our intelligence agencies knew about them (for how long now?) How the hell are these people legally occupying the White House? Why are our "so called " elected officials not standing up & taking our country back from the Russian political agents? If all of this is true (which I believe it is) our country as we knew it is over. We will never be the same after the Russian coup.

So now we trust Russia? Does nobody see they're trying to [f**k] with our Democracy? How about trusting the people who were in the room with Sessions? *(word redacted by Countable editors)*

Imagine that. And of course, we will hear more plausible deniability from all Trump supporters. Put your country before your party, and think for yourself.

With these serious allegations. It is due time to get to the truth. It is truly unbelievable to here Sessions say he does not recall these talks. Recusing himself is not good enough any longer. He must tell exactly what transpired or face serious jail time.

Funny how not just one person but pretty much everyone close to trump has failed to tell the truth about Russian meetings until after we find out about them. On top of every other very obvious sign trump has known or was part of all of this is the simple fact that he is now trying to find out if he can pardon himself. Come on, really. Oh and if anyone is wondering where his thinking is in all this just listen to or read his New York Times interview and try to decipher all that nonsense. Funny how he can't stop calling them fake news but when he wants to give an interview.

While certainly not a fan of Sessions, I submit another possible scenario: We know that Trump wants to get rid of Sessions. Why? Because Sessions can't fire Mueller since he recused himself. Is it that far fetched that he gets his Russian buddy to frame Sessions as a way to get rid of him so that he (Trump) can put in an AG who would fire Sessions? I wouldn't put anything past this deplorable President!!!

And Trumps attorneys are looking into a way that Trump can pardon himself and all those involved? Are you serious?! That action alone proves guilt. Be warned, if this does happen, there will be an uprising. It tells us, in no uncertain terms, that the people of this country mean nothing to its government and that our democracy, freedom and safety are meaningless and expendable.

I find it deeply concerning and frightening that this issue is not the most discussed and central topic in the United States right now. We may have and most likely we're manipulated as whole nation into the the current presidency. We were attacked, and failed to defend against it. We do not have to fail to respond. As a small business owner, veteran, and father of 2 young children. I only have my voice to fight with. I only hope that all of America is listening.
