Oklahoma Votes to Legalize Medical Marijuana

What’s the story?
- Voters in Oklahoma voted on Tuesday to legalize medicinal marijuana, making it the 30th state to allow the use of cannabis for medical purposes.
Why was their “bitter opposition”?
- Unlike other states, Oklahoma State Question 788 doesn’t tie medicinal pot to any specific qualifying conditions, allowing physicians to prescribe its use for a broad range of ailments.
- Law enforcement agencies opposed the measure for this reason, concerned it essentially would legalize recreational pot.
- Oklahoma Republican Gov. Mary Fallin also addressed this concern in her tweet following Tuesday's passage of the ballot measure:
What do you think?
