It’s a big day in Washington; Congress is back in full swing after its two week recess, from which lawmakers have run headlong into a showdown over the debt ceiling, government funding, health care and a border wall with Mexico. Add to that a new tax cutting plan from President Trump and an Executive Order reviewing the status of protected lands, and there’s a lot to take action on!
The President: In Washington
President Trump will announce the "guiding principles" of his tax reform plan
President Trump will sign an executive order related to National Monuments and the Antiquities Act
The House of Representatives: In Session
12pm: Legislative day begins with the consideration
Under consideration: H.R. 1695: Register of Copyrights Selection and Accountability Act of 2017; S. 496: A bill to repeal the rule issued by the Federal Highway Administration and the Federal Transit Administration entitled "Metropolitan Planning Organization Coordination and Planning Area Reform"
4:30pm: Final votes
The Senate: In Washington
11:30am: Cloture vote on the nomination of Alexander Acosta as Secretary of Labor.
5pm: All 100 senators have been invited to the White House for a classified briefing about North Korea from members of the Trump administration.
