Poll: 81% of Americans Want to Give Unauthorized Immigrants the ‘Chance to Become U.S. Citizens’ – Do You?
Do you support a path to citizenship for unauthorized immigrants?
What’s the story?
- More than 80 percent of Americans want unauthorized immigrants in the U.S. to be given "the chance to become U.S. citizens if they meet certain requirements over a period of time,” according to a new Gallup poll.
What are the numbers?
Gallup randomly sampled 1,022 people between January 21 and 27 and found:
- 81% support a path to citizenship for immigrants in the U.S. illegally "the chance to become U.S. citizens if they meet certain requirements over a period of time."
- 60% oppose significant new construction on border walls
- 75% percent of the public favors the hiring of "significantly more" border patrol agents.
