Social Security & Medicare Trust Funds Running Out of Money
Should Social Security & Medicare be reformed?
With America’s population aging, enrollment in entitlement programs that serve older Americans such as Social Security and Medicare is rising and putting those programs under increasing financial strain.
As these charts from our partners at USAFacts show, the amounts paid out to Medicare and Social Security beneficiaries have been rising steadily in recent years:
According to USAFacts, a non-partisan civic data initiative, funding for the hospital portion of Medicare (Part A) will be depleted as soon as 2029 while the Social Security Trust Fund is projected to be depleted by 2035.
