Do You Think Incivility Will Lead to Violence?

What’s the story?
- Nearly 80 percent of voters say they’re concerned the negative tone and lack of civility coming out of Washington will lead to violence or acts of terrorism.
- But the NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll, conducted in the wake of the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting, found that voters are split on who’s to blame.
What are the numbers?
- 92 percent of Democrats and 70 percent of Republicans are concerned or very concerned that the negative tone in D.C. will result in violence.
- 71 percent of Democrats and 45 percent of Independents think President Donald Trump is to blame.
- 86 percent of Republicans blame either Congress (44 percent) or the media (42 percent).
