The con argument sounds like something you would hear in a (theoretical) meeting of Oligarchs-Against-Democracy. Just because 9/11 scared us into accepting the invasions of privacy baked into the Patriot Act doesn't mean that every business or every situation requires us to hand over our rights to privacy. If this had anything to do with national security, I can imagine conservatives foaming at the mouth in fear that a traumatized Syrian toddler might come into the U.S. & take .02 cents out of their graft & greed pockets. This is about businesses being embarrassed by an employee. Boo freaking hoo! Suck it up & spend $$$ on a background check. This is serious breach of a citizens right to privacy & serious overreach of the "rights" of employers. As if employers needed more ways to take advantage of American workers! HELL NO!!
