There is very little protection for employees, especially when it comes to an employee's health. Many people live paycheck to paycheck and will go to work sick, endangering coworkers and/or customers, in order to maintain their income. There should be a set minimum limit of days where the employee will be paid, and after a guarantee they will not lose their job because they have required more unpaid sick days. The financial aspect will balance out. A sick employee will not be as productive as a healthy one, and it can spread throughout the company, creating lower productivity across the board.
