I applaud that the "House" has voted unanimously to pass this bill. I also find it disgraceful that anyone, would argue that this is a "cultural right" to mutilate a young girl's or woman's genitalia. Certainly, this practice has no place in a "civilized" nation. It would seem to me that this "issue" is an arcane remnant of a degenerate culture. A culture wherein women are second class and can be abused for the sake of religious beliefs. Such a practice should be looked at, by any civilized human being, as an ASSAULT and a HEINOUS CRIME. Now, I'm certain there are some "liberals" out there who would disagree. Yet these same liberals would argue that a woman has rights when it comes to what happens to their body and their reproductive organs. Such would include a woman's genitalia. We now have the "problem" of dealing with a religious culture who refuses to assimilate to "western" laws or values. Many would "embrace" these people and their "culture." Claiming they have the freedom to inflict pain and mutilate female genitalia. To them I say, If these people want to practice this form of female persecution, then they are free to return to their country of origin and do so there.
