This is not a cut and dry question. Government spending priorities need to change. The military budget needs to be reduced and a commitment to a Dept of Peace established. Social Security obligations should always be met because this belongs to the workers and the government is wrong to use it for other agendas. The amount of money given away through tax subsidies and cuts is greater in total than what the government's discretionary spending amounts to. These loopholes and giveaways need to change so that a more equitable share of the tax burden is achieved. If Congress truly put the interests of the American public first, priorities would change and solutions to all our monetary challenges could be found. Vote out those who put special corporate interest such as the military industrial complex and themselves first.
