First, I would like to say that I fully support law enforcement and violence against them make me sick. However, there are laws already against assaulting police officers. This is like making a law against specifically walking across Main Street and 3rd ave when jaywalking is already illegal. It is just another way to add another charge for the same crime. It may seem like a good idea on the surface, but can someone be charged under this law for verbally assaulting and/or attacking an LEO? What does "attack" mean under this law? This has the potential of being liberally applied and liberally interpreted by LEO's. While this seems to be one of those "no brainer" laws, it is just a temporary emotional reaction to the current events of the day. Plus, do these laws actually change the minds of criminals with these types of mindsets?
