It seems like an over reach give. Existing laws on the Books. I have concerns over false claims also. But it further seems that law enforcement & Prosecutors aren’t using existing laws on the books. One thing is anything dealing with the exploitation of a minor triggers the Sex Offender / Adam Walsh Clause which gives the government lots of options to monitor the habits of these offenders. In the case where they brake the supervision, say by stalking another minor, they they just committed a felony with up to 5yrs prison time. Isn’t that what this law is trying to do?
It would be nice if Congress and it’s legal staff combed through the books and removed useless & out dated laws and revitalized existing laws. Adding more refuse on top just confuses the situation.
The Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act (“Act”) is a U.S. federal statute enacted to protect the public, especially children, from violent sex offenders, by implementing a more comprehensive, nationalized system for registration of sex offenders. The Walsh Act was signed into law in 2006.
