The idea that tax breaks promote job growth is a myth. We've been in the lowest tax regime of the last 100 years for the last forty, and most of the job growth we've seen has been in low wage service sector jobs. In fact, the Fed keeps scratching its head over why wage inflation has not kept up with CPI, when the answer is glaringly obvious. If I'm a business owner and government raises my taxes, I am going to hire people and make capital investments in order to report lower EBIT. Moreover, if people can be trusted to regulate themselves why do we need referees in sports? And GE voluntarily cleaned the poison out of the Hudson, right?
