As a retired RN and MFT, of course people need help with obesity. Everyone does the best they can. Last I knew, stress was one cause of obesity, which usually means suffering whether from the effects of poverty or job loss or the -isms or -phobias, clinical depression, and more. Some medications cause obesity as do some medical conditions. Chronic pain makes exercise harder. This is a last frontier on prejudice against suffering people. People who have been abused as children are more apt to gain weight as are people living in poverty and in food deserts where there is no access to healthy fresh food, but plenty of access to high calorie, high fat, high salt, and high sugar foods that are all addictive.
