All this will do for employers that offer more time in vacation and less in sick will be to even that out. Also, what will be considered a full time worker?? 30 hrs like under Obamacare? And then you would have to give part time employees some sick time. In my experience, this is a horrible idea, especially for those young part timers in college that are trying to earn beer money. And let's go a step further... what will be the requirement to use the sick time? Would you need a doctor's note? Finally, leaving benefits to the private sector is an advantage for employees. You have the power to choose which employer you want to work for. Choose one that offers better benefits if you want this, maybe even over better pay.
