There are no teeth in it. Violence against peaceful protesters and/or enacting any laws in the U.S. to repress peaceful protesters is unconstitutional and Anti-American. Our current so-called president doesn't defend our constitutional rights and/or freedoms and would rather destroy them (very quickly). It would be lovely for the House and Senate to find a way to punish the Turkish thugs who attacked protesters in D.C. and to find a way to prevent anything like that again. Good luck with that. In a similar and more serious circumstance last summer, a paramilitary force called BlackSwan was allowed to heap violence and intimidation upon scores of Indigenous Americans and their allies at Standing Rock, where they peacefully protested the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline, that was going to run under their primary freshwater source. Hired by Energy Transfer Partners, BlackSwan carried out a militarized counterintelligence program more suited to war zones to address a peaceful domestic protest. It was an assault on Americans' right to peaceably assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances, which in this case was to protect their water. ANY legislation designed to protect our 1st Amendment rights needs to do more than deal with a single incidence of violence by diplomatically protected Turks.
