Creating a program to study and find ways to prevent school shootings sounds good in theory but the biggest problem is it might be more like spitting into the wind with the same kind of outcome yielding very little results. Money would be more well spent finding and implementing safety protocols. Perhaps metal protectors could be helpful and especially having interior classrooms and barriers that would make it difficult for perpetrators to breach to have access to where children would be. Research and implementation of those kinds of measures to fortify schools would seem to be more practical. Teachers and other administrators could be carrying weapons to thwart violators or even armed resource officers. While these suggestions are not ideal it is something to yield protection. Certainly there might be other viable options. It is better to be proactive in protection rather than trying to come up with prevention of occurrences which are random. Certainly students, teachers, and others should keep their eyes and ears open and any threat shouldn’t be ignored.
