As an American citizen, and as a young man, I believe it is time that we stopped promoting the idea that the American Dream is to work until 65 and retire and receive money. The truth is Social Security is draining the United States and it's citizens. I do understand that we can't rip it away but a gradual phase out would be astronomically beneficial. The system was supposed to be set up that the working efforts of the generation before the current retirees paid for the retirement of the elderly. So when I work, my taxes would in theory pay for my mother's and Father's retirement. Yet the government is telling us that they have to borrow money/ allocate more money in order to fund what should be a simple transfer of taxes. I say no, let the bill die and draft a new one that will slowly phase out this vampiric drain on the lifeblood of Young and Middle aged American Citizens.
