The government should not be allowed to refuse coverage for any medical category. I see refusing coverage as a form of privacy invasion. If any medication, surgery, or procedure is recommended and/or supported by a doctor it should be partly or fully covered. In the end, medical aid should focus more on medical necessity, recommendation, and overall cost than the type.
We don’t refuse treatment for those with
STDs. Many people protest against pre or extramarital sex, but the government still supports recovery from any STD consequences. Abortion shouldn’t be treated differently. It’s a personal medical situation that shouldn’t require proving whether or not you were assaulted or raped. It’s not the governments business as to why you’re going to the doctor or how it happened. You are seeing a professional for advice and education and then asking for financial assistance for any medications or operations they recommended.
When submitting to the government for authorization the decision shouldn’t be based on the type, but whether or not there are educated medical professionals behind the request.
As long as the government is choosing to provide health-related financial assistance to those who need it, they shouldn’t have the ability to discriminate.
