Conception is not the right starting point for the beginning of sustainable human life in legal terms. Conception produces a short term intermediate step toward the sustained life cycle of the human. The sustainable real beginning of the cycle is the successful attachment of the fertilized unit to its supporting system for nourishment and the initial stage of cell division thereafter. At this point the new human is fully defined in DNA, verified for viability, and fully supported to fulfill its destiny as a person. This is the legal sustainable life stage that can be protected.
