There is a lot of talk about auditing different segments of government spending, of clearing out waste, particularly when that spending goes directly to help alleviate poverty and hunger or support education. The area that needs a serious check, a serious audit, and a serious examination for waste and ways to better redistribute money for the betterment of all involved is defense. Yet year after year defense spending gets passed with no examination of ways to use funds in better ways. This should be done before handing over billions of dollars again. We have a strong military with members who could use better pay rather than more random ships. We need to reconfigure spending accordingly.
