Perhaps the better question to be asked would be CAN the efforts to determine the whereabouts of these missing service members be intensified in a meaningful and cost effective way? People are jumping on this as though we are doing nothing, but that’s not true. There are considerable resources being expended now to ascertain the whereabouts of missing service members. If we can do more, in a realistic way, then we should. If we are doing what can be done, then any resources proposed to be sent after this bill should instead be spent to better the situation of veterans who are homeless, or are in danger of suicide and in need of mental health care. We do indeed owe our service members the very best, and their families as well. Finding the remains of those lost is important, so is keeping more from joining them.
