I know all my representatives have put their support behind this bill so I feel like I am a voice calling out into the wilderness, but please explain to me how kicking 24 million people off of healthcare is the definition of freedom? All I've heard since the ACA was passed was how this is "government takeover of healthcare" but I don't see how this bill makes our lives better. There are some things that we as a society have determined work better if held in the collective: municipal utilities, public schools, national parks. I believe healthcare is another area where the free market cannot give people what they need. No one has time to shop for the best deal for an emergency room trip. People cannot shop for the best quality for the lowest price when it comes to healthcare, nor should they have to. That is not freedom. Freedom is getting your needs met without fear of financial ruin. The ACA must be fixed and strengthened. Most republican ideas such as increased competition and tort reform will not fix the problem. Vote NO. Especially considering that the Kansas Legislature is finally seriously considering expanding Medicaid so our rural hospitals can stay open. Enough with the ideology--take care of your constituents!
