I feel if this bill passes there then should be a national monitoring system that can track how many scripts of a controlled substance a patient receives. I say we should finger print everyone who are using controlled substances just like we do for the DMV. I think this will thwart the multiple visits to multiple states or pharmacies that don't share information such as CVS vs Rite-Aide, etc. I believe the CURES system we have in place now is only state specific. I'm am ER nurse and we have had patients come in using different identities to get narcotics. They also fill scripts at various pharmacies that are not the same chain so they are difficult to track. CURES is helping some but if a patient makes up a bogus identity how can you track that individual? Fingerprinting could easily solve that problem.
