This bill was proposed by the democrats and addresses a lot of what President Trump asked for. The verbiage also calls the situation at the border as a crisis. which was hyped in the media and by individual elected officials as a "manufactured, made up crisis" "There is no crisis". as recently as four months ago.
While this bill addresses the humanitarian crisis and adds more support personnel funding for the CBP, it does not address reducing the flow of migrants through Mexico to the US border. It provides funding for more temporary housing but does not address processing the political asylum claims more quickly.
Finally the bill does not address how this funding will be raised. It explicitly states it will not use funds from other programs. From where will the money come? A federal excise tax on all citizens? A fee from the border crossers to be refunded if they qualify for political asylum or immigration? Or will we just print more money?
