I’m actually mixed on this one. The ‘no’ statement says some states have this in place. If that is the case then we certainly don’t need duplication. There was also concern for pranksters—in that respect a number calling in should be recorded even when names are not asked. Anyone calling in deemed to be playing a prank should be fined or prosecuted. Certainly this system shouldn’t become like the little boy who cried wolf then when real danger presents no one comes to help. Certainly there must be protocols in place for something like this to work. What is most important is that individuals are not afraid to report or make a difference and not so immature that they could do something that could potentially risk lives. There needs to be a good plan if something like this implemented. Those states and cities that don’t have a system like this, it is important to report anything that could be of concern and it be taken seriously and with caution. Better safe than sorry. But here lies the problem—some reports may prove to be nothing so authorities could begin brushing reports off. Is there a system that can be fail safe.
