"Life" should be determined only by a medical professional in partnership with the woman carrying a child at any point in her own pregnancy. This is her right as an individual making decisions regarding her own life and it is a parent's right in deeming what is best in the life of her own child. Just because the child has not yet been born does not mean the parent does not have the right to make decisions regarding her own child's current and future health and well-being. Individual circumstances will determine the viability of any child depending on prenatal development, genetic markers and the actual health of the mother and child at the time. Only a doctor working with that patient at that time under those unique circumstances can act as advisor to the parent and advocate for the child. Just because a zygote had been formed does not mean it can develop in a healthy way to have a life that is viable, meaning without severe crippling medical conditions. A child born without viable organs and life sustaining functions will only live in pain and suffering and so will it's family. Society and governments can not possibly make a blanket determination about something as unique as each individual life. Only a parent can and should make such a decision for her child with the best medical advice available to all women of child-bearing age.
