I'm tired of the GOP labeling the EPA and any of its regulations as a "threat to freedom" (as Myron Ebell so eloquently put it). Their definition of freedom directly correlates to businesses having the freedom to pollute without facing any consequences. The reason regulations such as this are in place is because we already went down this road in the 20th century when river, stream and air quality was horrible in this country due to businesses being negligent of their harmful practices' effects on the general population and environment. If we didn't put these regulations in place, I'm almost certain the America we see today would be far more similar to China's reality, wherefore they didn't implement any regulations during their industrial revolution.
