The FAFSA does not take into consideration that my dad (the primary source of income for my family of 8) is making a lot more money now than he was a few years ago. They gave a very high estimate of parental contribution in my financial aid package, while, in reality, my family could not afford that. So now I am going to have to pay for my college tuition with student loans which will add up to over $100,000. I also want to go to law school, but I cannot be sure if I will be able to peruse that degree because of my student loans. I therefore hold that there should definitely be at the very least, a reform with student loans even if the country cannot afford to make all public college free.
