I think we shouldn’t have a limit based on just a number, perhaps a better number to set would be the number of people in-process of immigrating at one time. If people come over and get a job of their own, pay taxes (that one’s important), follow the same laws, then what’s it matter how many people come in? Anything that mattered at that point could just as easily be applied to families with many children, do any of us want government mandated child limits? I do think that we should focus more on solving our own problems, so any immigrants coming in and living largely off welfare don’t help, but for anyone coming and getting legal citizenship, a job, paying taxes, following all the same laws the rest of us do, those people shouldn’t inhibit our ability to solve our own problems, top of my list being the massive trade deficit and federal debt.
