Saying that students shouldn't be able to retain lawyers is an entirely illegal sentiment. If one is 18 they may represent themselves or choose to receive their own legal representation. Aside from that there needs to be reform on the investigations of sexual assault cases on campuses especially, with an overwatch from federal officials. Many instances have simply been either completely ignored or put on hold due to the reputation of the school or the particular student in question. Jameis Winston at FSU, for example, got completely off the hook because of who he was at the school. He raped at least one girl and it was brushed under the rug by school officials and local law enforcement because they knew if they did anything the school would have no chance at a championship.
