The refutation to this proposal is correct. At this time, most of the Venezuelans coming to the US are coming through legal channels and through asylum. We should be assisting neighboring countries with their efforts to accommodate refugees. However if any attempts are made by the US to replace members of the existing Venezuelan government, then we should immediately offer both increased protected status to refugees *and* additional resources to Venezuela's neighbors in taking in refugees. The US has a history of employing, training and supporting death squads during regime change and the loss of life could be outrageous.
