Just because a law-abiding citizen is carrying a gun, does not ensure their safety and the safety around them. They may legally be able to carry, but that does not mean that they are tactically proficient with it. An untrained citizen can be just as dangerous. The probability of hitting an innocent by stander, while attempting to defend him or herself, should not be ignored. I'm all for the ownership of weapons. However, if rigorous training classes were paired with owning weapons, to ensure a level of proficiency, I'd be much more at ease with my fellow citizens carrying guns. As of now, I simply cannot trust someone, else than military and police, to carry a gun and not miss.
