I firmly agree with and support the resolution would commemorate the 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day (V-E Day) — the victory of the U.S. and the end of World War II in Europe following the surrender of Nazi Germany on May 8, 1945. It would honor the American men & women who sacrificed their lives for the freedoms that millions of people throughout the world continue to enjoy, and salute the members of the Armed Forces who gave of themselves so that future generations could be blessed with a more peaceful world. Additionally, it would celebrate the extraordinary service of 5-star General Dwight D. Eisenhower, whose mission it was to defeat the German Army and end World War II in Europe.
We need to always remember the sacrifices that the “Great Generation’’ gave for us.
