Despite examples to the contrary, the Constitution is supposed to be the framework for the government, not a laundry list of enumerated rights. The Bill of Rights was added to induce some of the states to ratify. Are we going to have an amendment for LGBT rights? No? Then what do women need one for? African-Americans needed Constitutional protection so that former slaves would not be legally relegated to second-class status. We all know how effective that's been. With Congress and the states routinely ignoring the document, what would be the point? One more amendment to be misinterpreted.
