Yes. Lobbying/ corporate PAC money is the reason the average American citizen's interests are not represented the way they should be. It's the reason why tax cuts for billionaires that dramatically increase the deficit are somehow "affordable" enough to be pushed through by Republicans. But when it's a "raise" for federal employees (doesn't even cover inflation) or programs desperately needed by the people, like Medicare for All? "What?! We can't afford that. The deficit is too large, and it is my job to ensure our country's financial wellbeing." -Republican lawmakers 🤦♀️ Wish I were kidding, but that's basically a summary of what my congressmen said in response to my opinion on the fact that he voted against federal employees' pay increase.
