If this doesn't immediately strike you as a ploy by the criminal justice system to get around marijuana legalization to book civilians for DUIs rather than possession of a Schedule 1 Substance, you need to rethink how honest you believe the system is. For nearly half a century we've been arresting and incarcerating hundreds of thousands of people for marijuana, a substance proven to be less harmful than not only all other Schedule 1 substances and alcohol, but a majority of prescription drugs. I believe marijuana is THE most profitable thing to happen to our criminal justice system in the last 100 years, and that is the precise reason it's not legalized currently. Yes you can tax marijuana, but the problem they see is that you cannot guarantee that revenue would go back to them the same way it would be through ticketing, incarceration, the probation program, etc. It is pure greed that is stopping this country from joining some of the greatest countries in the world in not only decriminalizing marijuana, but in regard to education, healthcare, and overall care of citizens.
