Why does it seem that conservatives are strict constitutionalist only when discussing the bill of rights? I would hope they know the constitution is a much greater document. In this case, SCOTUS states everyone has a right to a CIVIL marriage. This right cannot be denied based on the person's sexual orientation. The 14th amendment extends this ruling to all 50 states. If marriage were a strictly religious act, I would tend to agree with most conservatives, however there is a civil component that cannot be denied based on sexual orientation. Also I saw someone write about pedophilia and beastiality. This argument has no basis as neither a child nor an animal can consent to such a relationship.
