The AHCA will cause millions of Americans to lose health care coverage and will put the most vulnerable at risk for illness and mounting medical bills. It will additionally put an unnecessary burden on our ERs around the nation as people seek emergency treatment in place of appointments with their PCPs. Placing the responsibility on states to cover their constituents under Medicaid will mean severe cuts to the program and the loss of vital services to those most in need. As a therapist at a community mental health center, I witness daily children and families who depend on Medicaid. The eventual gutting of the program is unacceptable. It must be covered and protected under federal funding. Physical and mental health are not voluntary. They are our rights as citizens of this country. Listen to your constituents. The majority of people in this country, and in your state, do not want the ACA replaced with the AHCA. They want their health to be taken seriously, not used as a pawn in a war between right and left. DO YOUR JOB AND STAND UP FOR THE PEOPLE YOU REPRESENT.
