Student loans can be used to provide for room and board, which includes food. Providing SNAP (food stamps) is double-dipping. In addition, most undergraduate programs are now 5-years, instead of 4-years, so working 20-hours a week is feasible. College, I am sorry to say, is not for everyone, and we need to be judicious with the academic rigor of those that can meet these standards. It is okay to not go to college, which seems to be a forgotten thought in today’s society. I am not speaking of socioeconomic status - I am speaking of those that cannot handle a 5-year degree while working (academic abilities).
