While it may not be popular to *not* support this resolution or whatever it is going to be called, I refuse to accede to the weak-kneed efforts of the Democrat leadership who initially fell all over themselves condemning a colleague, a woman of color, a woman of color who had the temerity to speak the TRUTH to power. No effort was made to LISTEN to her but, rather, she was CLASSIFIED in a highly politicized environment as problematic because she said things that made others uncomfortable in the skins of their own making.
To critically assess the State of Israel, its treatment of the Palestinians, and its lobbying agents and activities is *not* Anti-Semitism.
Non-discriminatory behavior is a no-brainer if we respect each other despite our surface differences. This is *not* a “both sides do it” scenario. There is a very clear choice that is the correct choice given all we know about the situation. No sugar-coating resolution will ensure we make the correct choice. That has to come from inside. And it requires facing ugly truths about what we have allowed to go on in our public and ‘behind closed doors’ political sphere.
I am a lifelong Democrat and I am furious with the Democrat Leadership right now for allowing themselves to be dragged into this blatantly discriminatory act. Despite the surface word changes, there is no backing out from what it is. This is still nothing more than an effort to pander to colleagues with ‘bruised’ feelings and assuage the fears of the lobbyists.
