Living in a rural area without a nearby VA, training local docs and medical providers to assess correctly would be a good solution. The VA has always been understaffed and overworked. I did an internship at the VA in Denver years ago. Incredible experience. Would like to see veterans better cared for all the way around. I wouldn't like to see this become a way of getting rid of the VA or privatizing it. Veterans and their families need people who understand what their challenges typically are, especially with the nasty form of warfare we've got going on these days.
