I am pro choice, so I'm strongly opposed to this legislation. My position goes far beyond women's fundamental right to control her own body. In the U.S. on any day an average of 428,000 children are in foster care, 13 million American children are in food insecure households and we have one of the worst records among industrialized nations regarding child abuse - we are losing an average of 4 to 7 children a day to abuse and neglect. The care and well being of our children after birth is what our legislators should be focusing on. To those who support this legislation because it's a no brainer; women have access to birth control so an unwanted pregnancy should never occur - get a clue. Birth control pills cost up to $50 a month, Planned Parenthood provides access to birth control at a discount, but wait, our federal govt wants to defund them, individual states are forcing Planned Parenthood offices to shutdown. Let's say we pass legislation making men responsible for birth control and if it fails, well then sure, I'll carry it to birth and you can pay the $20,000 In medical bills which are no longer covered under AHCA aka Trumpcare, and start sending me the $13,000 to $15,000 a year I'll need to raise YOUR child.
