Who in their right mind would think that the states would seriously take it upon themselves to help the environment? The federal government should set guidelines for states to follow and a state can choose to exceed those guidelines. But a state should at least meet the guidelines set by the federal government. The constitution grants the federal government the power to protect life, and that includes the enviroment so for this reason it is the duty of the federal government to place safeguards for the environment. It is in the best interest of the citizens of the Unites States and in the best interest of the world, so for this reason the EPA should remain.
