These bots are not like commodities speculators in any way. That is simply ridiculous! Of course, using the bad guys from the movie Trading Places in your example, should be an indication to anyone that you are not speaking as an expert. Anyway, they bought/sold stock in oranges based on an annual crop report. Although speculators influence prices based on their buying/selling stock, they are not actually buying oranges or directly setting the price at which they are sold. In contrast, these bots are acting as consumers and buying up products and the bots' owners (scalpers) jack up the price and resell the products. These scalpers are stealing directly from consumers by first stealing consumers' fair chance to purchase an item and then by gouging them on the price. They are scum and it should be illegal like ticket scalping.
