Definitely. Hate crimes are like abscesses, the wound is deeper than you realize and more rotten than you will ever know. Lynching isn't just about the individual killed, it's about terrifying anyone else in the group to which the victim belongs, to keep "them in their place." It also is done to terrify and silence those not in the group targeted who do not approve or support the perpetrators. It's terrorism, pure and simple, and should be treated as what it is.
