Pass the bill. Having nuclear waste spread out in 121 communities over 39 states isn’t acceptable. Besides the storage and contamination risk, having so many locations is a security risk. If by chance some of this material did fall into the wrong hands, and someone made it into a dirty bomb, there would be a lot of politicians who would have a lot of explaining to do. Although nobody wants this stuff in their back yard, a central depository in the Nevada desert seems like a good trade of for the good of the nation. Nevada will benefit from the influx of construction jobs and the employment such a facility will provide. No matter where this type of facility is located someone will always object. But those in the minority shouldn’t be able to hold up the process for another 30 years.
